Born in New York and raised on a gem of an island known as the Dominican Republic, I moved to Florida after graduating high school in pursuit of a higher education with a clear goal in mind: Making a difference.
Growing up in the DR, and surrounded by so much poverty, humbled and shaped me into the person I am today. With a Bachelor in Science, and a passion to make a change in the community, I flirted with different health professions as I volunteered and shadowed in different settings to identify my next move; eventually leading me to Occupational Therapy.
I came across yoga during my first semester of graduate school in 2012. The class was slow, too instructional and not for me. It was not until I hit my second semester, and could not quiet my mind, that I decided to give it another chance. At the time, I was too much in my head and felt unattached to anything, or anyone. I took my first vinyasa flow class with RoseAnn at Blue Sol Yoga in Weston, FL, and have been hooked ever since. Five years later, after obtaining a Masters in Occupational Therapy, I completed my 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher training at The Prana Lab, with the same instructor who spoke to me as I moved, breathed and grew on my mat.
Yoga has changed my life. What started off as a mental practice has trickled its way into every aspect of my life. As a yoga instructor, my intention is to have my students tune into their body , guiding them through the asanas, as they feel and become aware of what feels “good” , and what doesn’t, trusting that soon enough the awareness will flow off from their mats and into their lives, as it has with mine.
