Lisa Willis While training for a marathon in 2010, Lisa was involved in a car accident that left her with chronic neck and shoulder pain. After months of doctors, and chiropractic visits, she was still feeling the lingering negative effects of the trauma. She chose to explore alternative treatments and turned to Yoga. What began as a way to manage her pain, quickly blossomed into a regular practice. Over a 6 month period, Lisa bewgan to notice that not only her physical strength increased but her pain was reduced; Bonus was the grounding and purposeful experience that Yoga turned out to be.
After 8 months of a rigorous practice, Lisa was introduced to Ashtanga. She found it to be extremely beneficial and an inspiration to delve deeper through a teacher training. She earned her 200 hour certificate to teach Yoga under the guidance of Cheryl Oliver and Julie Boyd in Dallas.
We are excited to offer three special classes offered by our Aananda Yoga Training School Founder/Director Surendran Pandaran.

The Art of Sequencing
Your Yoga practice is the ultimate journey. The essence of the practice is that it is always shifting and changing just as our lives do. Our response to those shifts is where the real work in Yoga comes into play. In this workshop you will learn to teach and/or create your own home practice in a beautiful flowing sequence that literally feels like a journey. Students and teachers alike will learn the art of creating a sequence that not only feels amazing to practice but also makes sense for the mechanics of the body. Bring your journal or a notebook to take notes. This workshop is open to all levels and is highly recommended for teachers seeking creative and functional ways to teach their classes.
Saturday, January 24
Yin Yoga Nidra
All aspects of life are connected with both Yin and Yang energy. Erika will lead you on a journey inward through a beautifu Yin Yoga practice and Yoga Nidra meditation. Yin Yoga is a practice that is unlike any other. The practice is simple in that the postures are rather basic in form. The magic happens when we hold the poses for several minutes. By releasing tension in the muscles we can then get deeper into the connective tissues (fascia) which promotes the flow of Qi (energy). Our last pose will segue into a deep and powerful Yoga Nidra meditation. Also known as Yogic sleep, Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that will put you into a deep yet aware state of relaxation. Erika has personally worked through some of the emotional roadblocks in her life through Yoga Nidra and knows that it can work for everyone the same way. Anyone interested in relaxing and feeling the power of intention at work is welcome!
Package Pricing: Registration for all 3 sessions on or before January 5th is $100.00

In in Costa Rica, however, like Florida, there is no predicting the weather. There will always be some rain, but typically not a lot at this time of year. It does cool down at night, as we are in the mountains. We have experienced a week with no rain in these times, and a week with daily short showers during the same time period. Either way, it will be just what you need. Its all Yoga, remember? Bring a poncho or rain jacket for the waterfall tour or a rainy day. The property offers umbrellas for guests' usage.
Enjoy three plentiful, colorful buffet-style meals daily, made with fresh, local(and really goooood!) ingredients, the selection changes daily. All meals include a protein option-- eggs, fish and/or chicken, sometimes tofu or rice and beans -- but always fish or chicken at lunch/dinner --along with a mesmerizing array of fresh local juices(watermelon, strawberry, cantelope, orange, papaya..etc), fruits, homemade breads, nourishing soups, grains, flavorful vegetables and salads, tea, and yes, coffee. Coffee and light snacks- like fresh fruit are available 24/7. Dessert at dinner and a little sweet at lunch. Bowls of whole Rambutan, Carambola, Lychee, Guava, and other local just-picked tropical fruits allow you explore a new taste and texture every day. The bar serves a nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle, beer, wheatgrass shots, coconut water(freshly machete'd) all at a small extra cost that can be conveniently added to your room charges. Did we mention Coffee?
Single or Double Accomodations from basic tentalow to a deluxe suite- in the fresh mountain air above San Jose/Alajuela. All accommodations have comfortable beds and include daily housekeeping and towel changes if desired. Laundry can be done for you by the staff for a small fee.(ziplining splatters mud sometimes--okay, always). You have to see the way they fold underwear! Brilliant!
We have never changed a dime into local currency! Local business are happy to convert your dollars for you. Of course you will want to know the current exchange rate, but we have never experienced anything but honesty in these transactions. Charge cards accepted at most businesses in the city of San Jose. You can charge everything you use or do at Pura Vida to your room bill and pay it at the end of the stay. Extras are as little as a few dollars for a fresh coconut, to $100 and up for a day of rafting or a session with a massage therapist / master healer.
The boutique at Pura Vida was completely and beautifully renovated by Red Pearl's Karen Gavrilov and Deborah O' Brien in August of 2010. It is a great resource for local coffees, chocolates and yoga/lifestyle wear, carved bowls, local jewelry and more. Tipping out your housekeeper/staff is suggested.
Airfare/Customs Airfare is not included in the retreat pricing, and ranges from about $200-400 if you watch the fares and buy smart. You will fly into San Jose International, Costa Rica. Fort Lauderdale and Miami both have direct, non-stop flights that take about 2.5 hours. Baggage limitations exist, so plan carefully. Some airlines allow a free bag of checked luggage as well as your carry on for international flights. Some will charge you for carry-on! Do your research. We like carry-on only with the inexpensive and excellent laundry service option at the retreat. Light luggage allows easier in and out of the airports. You will have to go thru customs, and will need a passport. There is a $30+- dollar fee charged by Costa Rica that is paid at the airport upon your exit from the country. It is mandatory and must be paid before you can board the plane.

Reservation/Cancellation/Refund Policy for Events & Workshops (held at studio)
You must pre-pay in full to reserve your spot; reservations will not be taken without payment.
Cancellations will be accepted up to 14 days prior to the workshop for a full refund less 10%. No refunds or credits after that --with the following exception-- the event sells out and we can fill your spot, in which case you will receive the amount you paid less 20%.
Wondering why we don't give full refunds closer to the date?
Simple. If we stop selling spots, in order to hold your place, and then you don't attend, that is lost income because we have turned away another attendee in order to honor our commitment to you. Our presenters have costs and minimums that we must cover in order to host them and those expenses are bullt into the pricing and attendance level of each event.
If you are traveling to be with us, please carefully consider booking refundable flights and hotel rooms, as we do not cover those in the event you cannot come, or the very, very rare event that the presenter cancels an event.
More events & workshops coming...
