On the Wall Workshop with Judy Weaver & Elizabeth Scheer
This 3 hour workshop is intended to reinforce and fortify your physical and mental connection with your asana practice. Our objective is for you to:
Move more efficiently;
Enhance your ability to sense the relative position of your body parts in space (proprioception)
Maintain the integrity of your breath during movement
Feel how your joints are moving and understand the integral role they play in your physical well-being
Develop an understanding of the body-mind connection and how making this association may bring a deeper awareness of Self
learn to create effortless effort
These goals will be accomplished via a three-hour program in which we utilize the studio wall to help you establish your foundation, breakdown Sun Salutation A & B, and explore each pose individually. Building upon this, you will then work to find your foundation while balancing on a StrongBoard – an innovative, dynamic prop, which creates the experience of a “moving wall.” Exploring standing and balancing postures on the StrongBoard will create an integrated connection to your core and extremities. By the end of this workshop, participants will begin to feel confident and fluid transitioning through Sun Salutation A & B. Please bring your yoga mat and a towel as well as an optional light snack and note pad.
$75 Limited to 20 participants.
Space can guaranteed only with payment.
Refund Policy: No refunds, however, you may transfer your attendance to another if you cannot keep your commitment.
Judy’s passion for yoga
developed during her recovery from a lengthy illness in 1996 and ultimately led to an Ashtanga Vinyasa teaching certification. Judy is widely recognized for her expertise and knowledge of yoga and other mind/body disciplines, regularly conducting 200 and 500 hour certified yoga teacher trainings, retreats, facilitating workshops and lecturing on the college and university level. She is the Director of Yoga South’s Teacher Training Program and conducts Trauma Conscious Yoga trainings in conjunction with her non-profit Connected Warriors. Judy’s classes are energetic flowing meditations that synchronize breath and movement, blending Ashtanga, Anusara and Iyengar yoga styles. She continues to study with some of the senior teachers around the world. Judy encourages her students to have fun, find their edge, let go of expectations and incorporate yoga into their everyday lives. She embraces the spirit of ahimsa (non-violence), shanti (peace) and dharma (natural laws.)
Elizabeth’s love of yoga
began in 2009, when she realized it was possible to have an amazing workout while also being gentle to her body. Naturally, Elizabeth or “E” gravitated to the Ashtanga Yoga lineage for the feeling of strength, gracefulness and connection to self she gained. With a background in bodywork and athletics, E’s understanding of the body is a true compliment to each class she leads. Experiencing yoga related hip injuries led her to an intense love and study of Iyengar Yoga. Bridging her two favorite lineages, her classes are sequenced in a way that leaves you feeling balanced and strong, while her precise cues and hands-on assists help each student fine tune their poses, encouraging proper alignment. Elizabeth encourages mindfulness through the connection of movement and breath with a softness that invites you to play at your edge with a smile on your face.
